The BlackBerry Pearl is the smallest model of the BlackBerry smartphone developed by Research in Motion. Despite its small frame, the BlackBerry Pearl still packs in the same features as its larger brethren, such as wireless 3G Internet service, email and a digital camera. One of those features is the ability to lock the exposed keyboard to prevent your phone from making accidental phone calls while in your pocket or purse. There are a couple of ways to lock and unlock the keypad, including a simple shortcut key method.

Instructions

Navigate to your phone's home screen. Press the red "Power" button once or the "Back" button until you've reached the home screen.

Press the "Menu" key, located directly to the left of the trackball. This will open a menu list of options, including the ability to lock the keypad.

Click on the "Lock Keyboard" option with the trackball. This will lock your keyboard. You can also simply hold the "Asterisk" (*) key from the home screen to automatically lock the keyboard.

Press the "Asterisk" and "Send" keys to unlock the keyboard.
